Food & Nutrition Blogging 101

By: Rebecca Subbiah, RD, cPT

My Experience As a Food Blog Writer

I started my blog Chow and Chatter a year ago for fun. I stay home with my daughter so it was a creative outlet and I wanted to write. In fact blogging is a great way to practice writing. It also gives you almost instant fead back from your readers once you have a following!

My first writing job was after answering a craigslist advertisement for another job and the person mentioned would I like to write for their family seafood business. It's an Alaskan seafood company that ships fresh, wild, and good quality fish around the US. I then emailed organic meat companies and pitched the idea of a blog and one worked out. I spoke to the CEO and he added a blog to his site. I am always pitching ideas to companies and networking with local marketers. I also do the Social media, twitter, facebook, and blog for my local Indian store.
